December 18 - The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) has noted that there are significant funds inked to enhance US port infrastructure in the US House-Senate conference agreement for the fiscal 2016 omnibus appropriations bill.

AAPA explained that the largest increases are for the US Army Corps of Engineers' coastal navigation programme and the Environmental Protection Agency's Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) grants programme.

The agreement also includes level funding for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Transportation Investments Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants programme and the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) port security grants programme.

"AAPA welcomes the significant increase in the Corps' navigation programme," said AAPA president and ceo Kurt Nagle.
