Barloworld acquires TCS

July 30 - Barloworld Transport Solutions (BWTS) has acquired TCS Logistics (PYT) Ltd, a specialist in moving abnormal loads into and around sub-Saharan Africa.

TCS Logistics will fall under the specialised business unit of BWTS, headed-up by Andrew Nicholson. Rogan Brent and Jason Christie, the current managing director and operations director of TCS Logistics, will continue to manage the newly acquired entity.

Formed 16 years ago TCS Logistics has depots in Durban and Johannesburg in South Africa, Harare in Zimbabwe and Lusaka, Zambia. It has the capacity to haul loads weighing up to 90 tonnes.

TCS will be rebranded to Manline Mega to build on the strong presence that Manline - a BWTS subsidiary company - already has in the southern Africa markets.

Neil Henderson, ceo of BWTS, said regarding the takeover: "It aligns with our strategy to offer clients a wide range of smart, reputable and reliable transport solutions in southern Africa. It expands our services and capabilities in this specialised area. There are many synergies within our businesses and we look forward to leveraging these to enhance our services to clients into Africa.''

Rogan Brent, managing director of Manline Mega, commented: "This is a competitive space with great growth opportunities for us. Joining the BWTS group is an exciting development for our business and our client base."

BWTS, which incorporates the Manline, Manline Energy and Timber24 brands is a part of Barloworld Logistics. It operates a fleet of over 800 vehicles and employs 1,700 staff across 30 branches in southern Africa.
