May 15 - Luxembourg headquartered all-cargo carrier Cargolux Airlines International has taken delivery of a new B747-8 freighter - the second of its kind that the carrier has accepted during 2013.

Cargolux has financed the two new aircraft with two bonds secured by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) totalling approximately USD300 million.

In the last 12 months, Cargolux has invested almost USD1 billion in its B747-8F fleet. In comparison to older models, the B747-8F benefits from a higher cargo capacity, greater fuel efficiency and a smaller environmental footprint.

Cargolux - the launch customer of the B747-8F - now operates eight of the new-generation widebody freighters.
