Corpus Christi strengthens communications

May 28 - The Port of Corpus Christi has promoted Patricia Cardenas, formerly marketing and public affairs manager, to lead a newly created Communications Department as director of communications.

As it continues its role as an economic engine of the Coastal Bend and becomes a more diverse gateway, a port statment said that there is a need for a new department to be able to oversee all communications matters.

Effective June 1, the new Communications Department will be fully responsible for promoting awareness of the value that the Authority provides to its employees, surrounding communities, the State of Texas and its customers.

As director of communications, Cardenas, will oversee all matters related to the Port 's brand, its internal and external communications, news and trade media relations, advertising, electronic communications, event planning, and community relations for the Port Authority.

A native of Colombia, Cardenas has enjoyed a 12-year career with the port authority.
