January 2 - The Port of Melbourne, Australia has appointed Nick Easy its new ceo; he takes on the responsibility of overseeing the development of the gateway, including its USD1.42 billion expansion project.

Easy previously worked for the Port of Melbourne in a number of senior executive positions - he will transition into his new role during March 2014.

Minister for Ports, David Hodgett, observed: "I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Nick Easy as the ceo of the Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC), following the PoMC Board recommendation."

The Port of Melbourne is home to Australia's largest container terminal at Swanson Dock, and has a dedicated multipurpose terminal to handle non-containerised, project and breakbulk commodities.
