Multipurpose time charter rates fall

Time charter rates in the multipurpose shipping sector have fallen over the last month, according to the latest data from shipbroker Toepfer Transport.

Over the last month, Toepfer says that the average daily time charter rate for a 12,500 dwt/F-Type heavy lift vessel decreased by USD109 to reach USD7,216.

Despite this fall from last month's rate of USD7,325, this represents a year-on-year increase of USD951 from last year’s rate of USD6,265.

Toepfer's monthly TMI index is based on six to 12-month time charter rates and is compiled using data obtained from operators, owners and brokers.
