Kestrel flies with Carpenters

January 10 - Kestrel Liner Agencies has been appointed liner agent in the UK, Europe, Africa and the USA for MBf Carpenters Shipping, and can now offer a weekly service to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

As a result, Kestrel Liner Agencies is able to offer a weekly shipping service from USA, East and South Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean, connecting with the Carpenters service at Singapore, Port Kelang and Busan, which is served by multipurpose geared ships, which have heavy lift capabilities.

This new extended service is available for containers, breakbulk and project cargo.

As Papua New Guinea's economy has grown, the country's mining industry has developed. Andy Thorne, group chairman of Kestrel, said: "Mining is a key industry in Papua New Guinea and we have been involved in transporting several heavy lift cargoes."

MBf Carpenters Shipping was launched in March 2010 to provide niche shipping services to Asian-Pacific markets and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MBf Holdings Bhd, a privately owned company based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
