Scotland’s port of Grangemouth, part of the Forth Ports Group, has taken delivery of its third Liebherr ship-to-shore crane.

Sections of the 524-tonne crane arrived at the port on board Amasus Shipping’s vessel Eemslift Ellen. The components were transported from Liebherr’s facilities in Killarney, Republic of Ireland.

The components were unloaded onto the quayside where a team from Liebherr will construct the crane on site. The crane will be ready to lift its first cargo by late October.

As part of the ongoing investment programme, the port introduced three ESC340 straddle carriers in 2017, increasing the fleet at the container terminal to 16. The construction of a new 100,000 sq ft (9,290.3 sq m) warehouse within the port estate is due to be completed by December this year.
