Sparrows flies into Indonesian deal

Sparrows Group has appointed heavy lift equipment supplier Superkrane as its agent in Indonesia.

According to Sparrows Group, the agreement creates a partnership that can deliver a broad range of equipment and services to the energy and industrial sectors.

As part of the collaboration Superkrane will supply Sparrows equipment, including all crane brands such as American Aero, Houston System, Bucyrus Erie Marine, Weatherford and Energy cranes, to the Indonesian market.

Stewart Mitchell, chief executive officer of Sparrows, said: "Superkrane is a well-respected and established brand in Indonesia and our partnership with them allows us to assure quality and safety to our customers. 

Mitchell reports that there are over 200 cranes in operation across Indonesia for which Sparrows holds the intellectual property rights (IPR) adding that "it is hugely important to us that customers know where they can purchase genuine OEM parts with a certified warranty.

"We have worked in Indonesia for a number of years but Superkrane's impressive facility and local knowledge will support us in is expanding our service offering further, including the delivery of crane operator training."

Superkrane's offices, workshops and yard facilities in Jakarta will become Sparrows' base in the area.

Linayati Sukardi, managing director of Superkrane, said: "With the benefit of Sparrows expertise and experience we look forward to being able to provide a larger range of services to both the offshore and onshore market."
