Universal acquires Southern Counties

Universal Logistics Holdings, a provider of customised transportation and logistics solutions, has acquired Southern Counties Express.

Photo credit: Southern Counties ExpressServicing the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Southern Counties offers drayage, transloading, warehousing and project cargo handling services.

According to Universal Logistics, Southern Counties reported total operating revenues of USD54.4 million for the year-ended December 31, 2017.

Following the acquisition, Southern Counties will operate as part of Universal Intermodal.

“The addition of Southern Counties gives Universal a meaningful footprint in southern California and a solid platform for further expansion in this key transportation market,” said Jeff Rogers, Universal's ceo.

The cash purchase price was USD65 million, subject to customary post-closing adjustments.
