Mississippi freight flows again

December 18 - According to reports in the international media, the Mississippi River has reopened to commercial barge traffic near the Port of St Louis after a 36-hour closure; a number of barges were grounded last weekend due to ongoing shallow water lev

Water levels are expected to remain at their current level for the next two weeks before receding by almost one metre - according to a National Weather Service forecast - so those shipping through the busy port may well encounter problems and delays over the coming period.
