April 18 - Japanese Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) will assist the non-profit organisation South Africa Primary Education Support Initiative with the ocean transport of mobile libraries to the country.

On April 16, a ceremony for the departure of eight mobile library vehicles was held at the South African Embassy in Tokyo. The libraries that once played an important role in local Japanese communities will soon visit South African elementary and junior high schools.

The event was attended by the ambassador of South Africa in Japan, Her Excellency Mohau Pheko; ministry of foreign affairs the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, His Excellency Makoto Ito; and MOL executive vice president, Toshitaka Shishido.

Four of the vehicles are being transported on MOL's hybrid vehicle carrier Emerald Ace, which departed Japan on April 8.
