UTi-DSV merger edges closer

January 15 - UTi Worldwide's shareholders have overwhelmingly voted to adopt the previously announced merger agreement for the acquisition of the company by Danish transport and logistics outfit DSV.

DSV signed an agreement in October 2015 to acquire the US based logistics company for around USD1.35 billion. Both companies' boards of directors have unanimously approved the transaction.

DSV says that it expects to close the deal in the first quarter of this year.

Closing of the transaction is subject to relevant regulatory approval being obtained from competition authorities in South Africa, as well as satisfaction of other customary closing conditions. Closing will take place on the second business day after all approvals are obtained, said DSV.
