November 28 - Van Oord has reached an agreement on the acquisition of Ballast Nedam's offshore business unit.
Further to the news posted by HLPFI on October 30 regarding Ballast Nedam's decision to divest its offshore activities at short notice, Van Oord has agreed to purchase the assets of Ballast Nedam Offshore; the dedicated engineering, procurement, contracting and installation (EPCI) staff; the heavy lift installation vessel Svanen; and the 144 MW Westermeerwind project.
These activities will be integrated into Van Oord's offshore wind projects (OWP) business unit.
"The acquisition is fully in line with our investment programme for the coming years," said ceo, Pieter van Oord. "The heavy lift vessel Svanen has successfully installed more than 500 foundations and complements our installation capabilities."
