October 12 - AgustaWestland has appointed XPO Logistics to coordinate the transportation of eight Lynx Mk21A helicopters from Brazil to the UK.
XPO Logistics will be responsible for transporting the eight Lynx helicopters to Yeovil, Somerset for a phased upgrade programme, after the Brazilian Navy contracted AgustaWestland to replace engines, navigation systems, display consoles and mission avionics on the maritime helicopters.
Upon completion of each upgrade, XPO Logistics will coordinate the return of the refurbished helicopters to Brazil by air and sea freight - an operation that XPO says will involve specialist handling equipment and bespoke protection due to the over-dimensional nature of the cargo.
