ALE provided the transhipment from a semi low loader to a six-axles self-propelled modular transport (SPMT) using a 100-tonne lifting capacity mobile crane. Once on the SPMT the reel was transported the 1.5 mi route through the narrow and challenging Lake District terrain.

A full survey of the route was conducted prior to the operation to ensure the successful completion of the project. ALE's trailers negotiated narrow lanes, extreme gradients and small bridges on the route to the offloading location at the edge of Wastwater.
