October 9 - Four years after the partnership started, BigLift Shipping has announced that it will end its cooperation with Rolldock Shipping in the joint venture BigRoll Shipping, effective January 1, 2018.

The reason behind the decision was not disclosed.

From January 2018,  two of the four heavy lift vessels operated by the joint venture BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin, previously known as BigRoll Barentsz and BigRoll Baffin, will join the BigLift fleet.

The identical vessels feature Finnish Swedish 1A ice class notations and a flush deck of 125 m x 42 m for ro-ro cargoes. According to BigLift, the vessels will enable the shipping line to offer clients more customised shipping solutions for larger and heavier cargoes.

The joint venture of BigLift and Rolldock was established in May 2013, as HLPFI reported here.

In addition to BigRoll Barentsz and BigRoll Baffin, BigRoll Shipping's fleet included BigRoll Bering and BigRoll Beaufort, which were delivered to the Netherlands-based shipping line in June 2016 and March 2017 respectively, and it is expected that each will return to the Rolldock fleet.

Ongoing contracts and tenders of BigRoll Shipping will still be executed in cooperation with Rolldock Shipping.
