October 3 - Denmark headquartered heavy lift and project shipping line Combi Lift has won the tender for the ocean transportation of transition pieces and monopoles for the Dong Energy Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm project.

Combi Lift's Palembang will transport 77 transition pieces each weighing 260 tonnes, and 77 monopiles weighing in excess of 700 tonnes each. The project will be completed over 22 consecutive voyages.

The project will include the use of Combi Lift's unique lashing and securing system that enables Palembang to sail unrestricted from Bladt Industries site in Aalborg, Denmark to the wind farm site, without the need for lashing wires. Combi Lift added that to meet the lifting demand on this job the vessel will undergo some undisclosed modifications.

The line recently completed a similar project for the West of Duddon Sands Wind Farm Project, where it was responsible for the transport of 102 monopiles and transition pieces (http://www.heavyliftpfi.com/news/combi-lift-begins-uk-wind-farm-installation.html).
