March 31 - Coordinadora Internacional de Cargas has transported a 1,320-tonne ethylene oxide reactor from India to Saudi Arabia for Sadara Chemical Company and on behalf of Tecnicas Reunidas.

Coordinadora transported the outsize unit from Larsen & Toubro's facility on the Tapti River in Hazira in the Indian state of Gujarat, to Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia.

Initially, the reactor was loaded onto SPMTs and rolled onto a 63 m long barge using the berth's ro-ro ramp, which had to be reinforced with an additional steel ramp for negotiating the height difference between the ramp and the deck.

Once onboard, three tugboats towed the barge up to the port, where the cargo was loaded onto a vessel using the ship's own cranes.

On arrival in Jubail, the reactor was unloaded onto more SPMTs for final transportation to the jobsite.

This was the second heaviest unit ever moved by Coordinadora, claims the company.
