Liebherr launches two new cranes

Liebherr has unveiled an 800-tonne capacity crawler crane - the LR 1800-1.0 - at its 2018 customer days.

The LR 1800-1.0 extends the Liebherr range of crawler cranes in the class below 1,000 tonnes, particularly for industrial work such as power plant construction and jobs in the petrochemicals industry.

The focus of the product development on the new crane was to achieve maximum lifting capacities for these applications whilst also ensuring low cost transport around the world, said Liebherr.

The design of the boom has been developed to reduce transport costs of the crane. The standard length can be extended to the maximum length of 102 m for the main boom plus 102 m for the luffing jib.

Another feature which reduces transport costs, according to Liebherr, is that the basic machine is designed with a 3 m transport width and a maximum transport weight of 45 tonnes.

The weight of the crawler travel gear of 60 tonnes can be reduced to a transport weight of less than 45 tonnes by removing the tracks.

Liebherr’s 2018 customer days, which took place from June 13 - 14, also unveiled the LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane, featuring a telescopic boom length of 75 m.

With lattice extensions, the maximum hook height of the 230-tonne capacity machine is 111 m.

This, according to Liebherr, makes the LTM 1230-5.1 an ideal crane for working on steep gradients and large hook heights, for example erecting tower cranes or maintenance work for wind turbines.

Liebherr has also developed a special mode for mobile cranes in the load-sensing range to reduce the cost of crane operations whilst also reducing noise emissions. ECOmode minimises both fuel consumption and noise emissions when operating the crane superstructure, says Liebherr.
