June 28 - Intermarine has transported four coke drums from Dijon, Spain to New Orleans, USA on its heavy lift ship Ocean Freedom.

Intermarine transported the drums, which weighed 333 tonnes and measured 34.4 m x 8 m x 8.2 m each, on behalf of forwarder Agility for its clients Phillips 66 and Wood Group Mustang.

The 14,360 dwt Ocean Freedom was chosen to ship the oversize items due to its ability to move units in a single or tandem lift, with two 400-tonne capacity cranes onboard, said the US based shipping line.

Intermarine added that the dimensions of the cargoes provided limited options for lashing and securing points on the units, meaning that a thorough method statement and CAD designs were required prior to shipment.

On arrival in New Orleans, the coke drums were unloaded directly onto barges for onward transport.
