USA-based Dynamic Specialized has utilised its fleet of modular axle lines from Faymonville to move a transformer for a local substation project in Newport News, Virginia.

Using ModulMAX G-SL modular axles from Faymonville, Dynamic Specialized transported the transformer from the Newport News Marine Terminal. “We had a permitted gross weight of 423,430 lbs (192.1 tonnes), and rough dimensions of 130 ft (39.7 m) in length, 11 ft 4 inches (3.5 m) in width and a height of 15 ft 3 inches (4.6 m),” said Josh Sohler, operations manager at Dynamic Specialized.

He added that the unit initially arrived at another terminal. “However, due to the overall height, we made alternative arrangements with the local floating crane to have this unit discharged at the Newport News Marine Terminal.”

The transformer was moved 10 miles (16.1 km) to the local substation using the Faymonville modular axle lines.
