November 16 - Heavy lift and multi-purpose vessels with drafts of up to 17.5 m will now be able to use Krishnapatnam Port, Andhra Pradesh following a strategic programme of dredging and other works which has made the port one of the deepest in India.

The port's three cutter suction dredgers and three trailer suction dredgers are working around-the-clock to undertake capital and maintenance dredging. In the next two months, the draft will be increased to 18.5 m, making it the deepest draft port in India and in time this depth will be increased further.
