August 2 - Four new super post-Panamax cranes are en route to PortMiami, USA.

Built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China, each crane has an outreach of 67.97 m and will be able to work containerships that are up to 22 containers wide, up to nine containers high above deck and 11 containers below deck.

"The arrival of four additional super post-Panamax cranes is an important milestone for our Port," said PortMiami director Bill Johnson.

"These, along with two other super post-Panamax cranes now on-port, will play an important role in growing our container cargo traffic in coming years."

The new cranes along with the deepening of the port's main channel, new on-dock rail capacity and the completion of the port tunnel are all key for PortMiami's ability to handle the newest generation of large container vessels.
