September 14 - Konecranes has received an order for three Ship-To-Shore (STS) cranes and seven Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes from JSSC Klaipedos Smelte in Lithuania. The cranes will be delivered to the port of Klaipeda starting in the fourth quarter of

Stevedoring company Klaipedos Smelte, based in the seaport of Klaipeda, handles and stores containers, heavy lift and oversized cargo, frozen meat and fish products and other conventional cargo. The company is part of the worldwide container terminal network controlled by Terminal Investment Limited (TIL).

The Klaipedos Smelte container terminal was opened in 2006, and since starting operations the number of containers handled by the terminal has constantly grown. Starting with 38,000 teu in 2007, the terminal is now capable of handling more than 200,000 teu annually. The longer term target is to become a 1,000,000 teu transshipment hub.

Konecranes will deliver high-efficient container handling cranes to serve Post Panamax container ships and the container yard in port of Klaipeda.
