May 14 - Bergheim, Germany based crane rental expert Breuer & Wasel has taken delivery of its brand-new Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 mobile crane.

The new crane was driven from Liebherr's manufacturing site in Ehingen straight into service in the north of Germany. The new mobile crane was tasked with erecting four 78 m tall wind turbines.

The LTM 17950-9.1 was launched into the market during March 2013 and already more than a dozen have been delivered are in use. By the end of 2013 Liebherr anticipates that 40 of the new mobile cranes will be in service.

The LTM 1750-9.1 comes equipped with a 52 m telescopic boom and a maximum load capacity of 750 tonnes.

The crane has been designed to allow for quick set-up times. It can travel on roads only with its front supports; rear supports can be fitted onsite using an onboard auxiliary system. The crane can also move around jobsites easily - only the luffing jib and pivot section needs to be removed - the supports, guying, telescopic extension and ballasts can be left on the crane. If roads and tracks are perfect, even the maximum ballast of 84 tonnes can remain on the lifter.

Commenting on the effectiveness of the LTM 17950-9.1, Jürgen Oprée, technical manager at Breuer & Wasel noted: "We need around one-third of the time required to move a comparable lattice boom crane."
