July 7 - KVN Autokrane has acquired a new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane for numerous applications involved in the expansion of German power lines, writes Isabel Freedman.

The 300-tonne capacity single engine crane features a mechanical shaft which ensures particularly high efficiency and guarantees the economy of the design in terms of fuel consumption, says Liebherr.

Recently KVN's LTM 1300-6.2 proved itself when it successfully completed the assembly of a new electricity pylon in a field in Peine, Germany. KVN equipped its crane with 56 tonnes of basic counterweight and a 5.5 m long assembly jib in order to lift the power pole, the heaviest part of which weighed 27 tonnes. The LTM 1300-6.2 executed the task with an outreach of 18 m.

A Liebherr LTF 1060-4.1 telescopic truck-mounted crane was also used during the lift as an auxiliary crane, while the LTM 1300-6.2 was used to reassign the power lines and dismantle the old electricity pylon.

Kai Giesker, commercial director of KVN Autokrane GmbH, said the company bought the LTM 1300-6.2 specifically for this job since "the existing overhead power lines are no longer sufficient" and following its performance they "view the new Liebherr single engine design very positively."
