April 7 - Liebherr's LTM 1750-9.1 and LTM 1500-8.1 mobile cranes, operated by MSG-Krandienst GmbH, have been at work for two nights installing steel girders for the new bridge structure at the Darmstadt autobahn intersection.

The two Liebherr cranes positioned the 50 m long steel girders, each of which weighed 82 tonnes, on to bridge pillars at the autobahn building site.

Several of the six lanes of the autobahn had to be closed to erect the cranes on and next to the road, while the A5 autobahn had to be closed completely during the night so that the crane professionals from MSG and bridge builders from Max Bögl could complete the job.

The prefabricated parts were delivered to a parallel bridge using heavy load transport vehicles. With a range of more than 30 m, the mobile cranes hoisted and positioned the steel girders in tandem.

The two Liebherr mobile cranes had to be able to handle maximum load cases of 44 and 41 tonnes, and both models managed to install seven of the steel composite elements during two nights.
