October 20 - Six sections of a rotary kiln, manufactured by A-C Equipment Services for McInnis Cement, have been loaded onto a barge at the Port of Milwaukee for shipment to a cement manufacturing plant in Quebec.

Using Port of Milwaukee cranes, Federal Marine Terminals loaded the rotary kiln sections, which weighed 102 tonnes each and measured up to 13.4 m long with 5.1 m diameters, onto the McKeil Marine barge.

The steel used by A-C Equipment Services to build the rotary kiln also arrived in Milwaukee through the port, said the port authority. The finished sections are scheduled to depart early this week, travelling through the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway system to reach Port-Daniel-Gascons in Quebec.

The Port of Milwaukee explained that shipping the kiln sections through the North American port saved time and money, since transporting such heavy and out-of-gauge items overland is very expensive.
