July 24 - Korean shipping giant Pan Ocean has placed an order with Amarcon for two OCTOPUS-Onboard ship monitoring systems that will be installed aboard two of its semi-submersible heavy lift vessels.

OCTOPUS-Onboard is a state-of-the-art system that delivers real time vessel monitoring, and supports vessel route planning, speed optimisation, heading and fuel consumption.

General manager for Amarcon, Leon Adegeest, says: "Semi-submersible heavy lift vessels operate in highly demanding conditions where ship monitoring and advisory data is key to safe and efficient operations." To date, Amarcon has equipped more than 80 percent of the global semi-submersible heavy lift fleet with its OCTOPUS product, claims the company.
