May 9 - SAL Heavy Lift has transported a 257-tonne cryogenic heat exchanger on board its vessel Annagret from Fairless Hills in the USA to Malaysia.

The cryogenic heat exchanger, which had the dimensions 50.7 m x 5.66 m x 6.06 m, shipped from the USA via a TransPacific route to Malaysia, for use in the LNG Train 9 project in Bintulu.

"A cryogenic heat exchanger is the effective heart of an LNG plant," explained Justin Archard, director of SAL across Southeast Asia and Australasia. "They are incredibly valuable and tremendously sensitive pieces of technology and require very special handling."

SAL's Annagret is one of the company's Type 161A vessels, which features a 650-tonne lift capacity.
