November 5 - Swire Shipping's West Coast North America (WCNA) service will add a monthly, direct call linking the Port of Everett with Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Swire's WCNA service operates two 31,000 dwt multipurpose vessels, which offer capacity for up to 2,000 teu and are fitted with four 60-tonne deck cranes.

Swire will serve the Port of Everett every 35 days carrying a wide range of general cargoes, including heavy and bulky project lifts, as well as general and refrigerated containers.

The Singapore-headquartered liner service provider offers a monthly direct service from Vancouver BC, Everett, Vancover WA and Los Angeles, through to Suva, Brisbane, Port Kembla, Geelong and Tauranga, with onward connections across the South Pacific.

The Port of Everett recently invested in a 150-tonne capacity GMHK 7608 mobile harbour crane, which was reported by HLPFI on September 26.

"We look forward to partnering and growing the trade with Swire Shipping's service between the West Coast and South Pacific," said chief operating officer at the Port of Everett, Carl Wollebek. "We believe our road and BNSF rail connections coupled with the port's investment in facilities and equipment will enhance Swire's service offering."
