June 21 - Terex Cranes has launched an upgraded Boom Booster kit for the Demag CC 3800-1 crawler cranes, extending the reach of the crane to a maximum system length of 183 m (600 ft).

The Boom Booster kit for the CC 3800-1 can have up to nine structural 12 m sections including two adapters. By removing lighter boom sections close to the head section and adding 3.5 m (11.5 ft) wide Boom Booster sections right after the foot section, the kit can now have a total length up to 108 m.

The Boom Booster kit increases the main boom stiffness of the CC 3800-1 resulting in higher lifting capacities by up to 30 percent, says Terex.

There is an optional Superlift Split Tray and an optional Flex Frame available. According to Terex, when both systems work together the amount of time required for re-arranging counterweights between erection of the crane and working with the crane drops substantially. The optional Flex Frame solution allows flexible setting of the superlift counterweight in a radius from 13 to 21 m (42 to 69 ft) with full counterweight on the tray.

The Boom Booster kit is available with new crane purchases and can be retrofitted to existing Terex Superlift 3800 and Demag CC 3800 -1 models.
