December 11 - Thorco Shipping has added the 12,580 dwt multipurpose vessel, Thorco Dagmar, to its fleet on a one-year time charter from SE Shipping.

The vessel, which was built in 2009, features a tweendeck, three cargo holds and two 150-tonne capacity cranes. The ship was previously named SE Panthea.

Thorco stated the reason for taking the new vessel: "Even though the market in our segment is and has been under quite some pressure, we act when we see good opportunities; and together with the owners we were able to find a good agreement for mutual benefit."

Thorco's new addition will join five 18,000 dwt modern tweendeckers that the company has recently acquired from SafmarineMPV. See more here and here.

Commenting on the five new vessels, Christian Stadil, owner and ceo of Thorco's parent company Thornico, said: "We firmly believe that when a market is under pressure, when the market is like a closed door, this also equals an open door in terms of the opportunities that will arise, so when an opportunity like this presents itself, we strike."
