February 13 - Hubert Wiemann Autokrane has expanded its fleet with a Demag AC 250-5 all terrain crane.

Hubert Wiemann Autokrane will be using the new unit mainly as an assist crane for erecting wind turbines, claims Terex. The crane service provider therefore decided on a configuration with a long 33 m fly jib and the optional IC-1 Plus control system.

The North Rhine-Westphalia sales manager for Terex, Helge Pruefer, said: "With a width of only 3 m and a total length of just under 14.5 m, the AC 250-5 is the most compact crane in its category, making it ideal for work sites where space is tight. The IC-1 Plus control system also helps, as it makes it possible to safely work with asymmetrical outrigger setups."

The general manager at Hubert Wiemann Autokrane, Martin Wiemann, his son Markus Wiemann and crane operator Sebastian Stefanski travelled to Zweibrücken, Germany to collect the crane.

Terex also delivered a Demag AC 250-6 all terrain crane to Kerr Crane Service, based in Canada. According to Terex, the AC 250-6, which has a 262 ft (80 m) main boom, joins Kerr's fleet of mobile cranes ranging in size from 28-ton (25-tonne) to 400-ton (363-tonne) capacity.
