April 21 - The five ports within the ABP South Wales group claim they are well placed to deliver logistics solutions for project cargoes destined for the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Project, which is due to be constructed over the next ten years.
The Port of Barry is the closet commercial port to Hinkley Point C and ABP will also be offering services from Cardiff, Newport, Port Talbot, and Swansea.
Ralph Windeatt, head of commercial, ABP South Wales, said: "The location and poor road and rail links will make the logistics of Hinkley Point C challenging.
"The logistics support that is being offered by ABP South Wales includes: significant experience in handling heavy lift and project cargoes, multimodal connectivity, deepsea access, the construction of bespoke warehousing on the port, and the facilitation of the transport of cargo from deepsea oceangoing vessels to smaller ships and barges capable of accessing and unloading at the Hinkley Point C Jetty/Combwich Wharf."
ABP South Wales is part of UK ports operator ABP, which has 21 ports and other transport-related businesses.
