Antonov and Bolloré team up for Mozambique

Antonov Airlines and Bolloré Logistics France have worked together to help support disaster relief efforts in Mozambique following Cyclone Idai, which caused severe flooding.

An AN-124-100 aircraft carried 65 tonnes of supplies, as well as logistics personnel from aid organisations, from Chalons Vatry airport in France to Beira.

The cargo included malaria treatment medication, five water purification stations, and over a thousand tents and shelters.

“Speed and efficiency are key when flying aid to a disaster area, and after the aircraft arrived in Vatry, loading took five hours to complete,” said Paul Bingley, commercial manager at Antonov Airlines.

Karine Dantier, charter director at Bolloré Logistics, added: “The Bolloré Logistics office in Beira, which was at the epicentre of the disaster, provided support staff to facilitate the unloading of the cargo, and having all the necessary expertise, provided handling, administration and the final delivery.”

The entire humanitarian project was completed in six days.
