Blue Water Shipping (BWS) has been busy coordinating the transhipment of pipes destined for the Nord Stream 2 project, which will transport natural gas from Russia to Europe.

Since the summer of 2017, BWS has handled a total of 54,000 coated pipes delivered from the ports of Kotka, Finland and Mukran, Germany to marshalling yards in Hanko, Finland and Karlshamn, Sweden. It has also received more than 16,000 pipes at Koverhar, in Hanko, by train from Russia.

In total, BWS expects to handle the transhipment of approximately 500 loads. The marshalling yards are now close to capacity and the next phase of the project is commencing; the pipes will be loaded onto feeder vessels supplying the offshore construction ships Solitaire and Pioneering Spirit, operated by AllSeas
