Taiwan-headquartered Chi Deh Crane Engineering Co has ordered a Goldhofer FTV 550 blade transporter in response to growing demand from the wind energy industry in East Asia.

Mr Hu, chairman of Chi Deh, standing in front of the FTV 550 on show at this year's bauma exhibition.

The device, which is expected to arrive with Chi Deh sometime in the next few weeks, facilitates the delivery of wind turbine blades.

Goldhofer said the FTV 500 allows rotor blades to be lifted into a raised position and rotated. This allows wind turbine blades to travel through built-up areas, or around tight bends such as those encountered on mountain roads.

Chi Deh’s fleet includes other Goldhofer equipment such as mechanically steered PST/SL self-propelled vehicles, modular THP/SL heavy-duty systems and electronically steered PST/SL-E self-propelled vehicles.

Apart from the FTV 550, the latest additions to the Chi Deh fleet include another 16 axle lines of the electronically steered PST/SL-E plus three SPZ-GP flatbed semitrailers with pendular axles.
