Fagioli weighs in on unloader delivery

Fagioli has handled the delivery of a ship unloader from Poland to Algeria.

Before the ship unloader could be transported, Fagioli had to determine the exact weight of the unit and the location of the centre of gravity.

To do this, Fagioli used eight load cells placed on eight 600-tonne capacity hydraulic jacks. This established that the ship unloader weighed 1,293 tons (1,173 tonnes).

The unit was subsequently loaded onto a heavy lift vessel from Jumbo’s fleet for onward transportation to Algeria.

Fagioli was also involved in the engineering of a grillage system and the seafastening onto the ship’s deck.
