Fesco wins Rooppur nuclear contract

Atomstroyexport has contracted Fesco Transportation Group to deliver equipment for the construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh.

As part of the agreement, Fesco will transport general and oversized cargoes, with a total weight of more than 6,700 tonnes, from Russia to the project site, located 160 km from Dhaka.

General cargo will be loaded into containers and flatrack containers at the port of St. Petersburg, for onward shipment to the port of Chittagong, where the cargoes will be transported to the construction site by trucks.

The oversized cargo will be transported from St. Petersburg to the port of Mongla, where the cargoes will be transferred to barges and moved along the Padma River. Upon arrival at a pier close to the project site, the cargoes will either be rolled off the barge or discharged using heavy lift cranes.

The oversized equipment will then be transported the site by modular trailers.
