Mammoet has successfully replaced a 40-year-old generator at a nuclear plant in Minnesota, USA.

The exchange was made so that the plant met licencing requirements and could continue operating. Two pressurised water reactors generate approximately 550 MW of electricity each.

The old generator weighed 454-tons (411-tonnes) and was lifted using a gantry structure, before being skidded onto 24 axle lines of SPMTs. The new generator was brought in and installed using the same equipment.
