SAL Engineering has lifted two 380-ton (344.7-tonne) shiploaders at the port of La Spezia, Italy.

Using two lifting beams measuring 26 m in length, the shiploaders were lifted on board SAL Heavy Lift’s vessel Palabora for onward transportation to Barcelona, Spain.

The 2,000-ton (1,814.4-tonne) capacity lifting arrangement, supplied by Eager.one, can be configured into a modular lifting frame measuring up to 18 m wide.

Arthur Stuckert, project engineer at SAL Engineering, said this project was the first time SAL executed the loading of a 380-ton shiploader, measuring 12 m x 25.6 m x 53.3 m, with its 26 m traverses in a forklift configuration.
