Cortland, a designer and manufacturer of synthetic rope slings, has supplied lifting and rigging equipment for the Norther offshore wind farm, which is being built 23 km off the coast of Ostend, Belgium.
Synthetic rope slings from Cortland will support the lifting of monopiles, transition pieces and turbines. When completed, the wind farm will feature 44, 8.4 MW turbines.
The equipment supplied includes seven Selantic slings ranging in size from 20 m up to 60 m, featuring capacities up to 2,500 tonnes, as well as three Plasma grommet slings.
Cortland’s European sales leader, Wilco van Zonneveld, said: “Synthetics are currently being used on wind farms at North Sea sites in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. Reducing risk during lifting operations is a critical priority across industries, including construction, oil and gas and renewables.”
