ALE's largest lift in Lagos

ALE has utilised its AL.SK350 crane and heavy-duty jib to lift Total's Egina floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) module in Lagos, Nigeria.

The FPSO module S2 weighed 2,810 tonnes, which ALE claims is the heaviest ever land-based crane lift. 

The AL.SK350 heavy lift crane was rigged in its biggest configuration, with a 124 m a-frame main boom, a 49 m ballast radius and a 28 m jib for additional outreach. The configuration also featured a heavy winch system and 4,000 tonnes of ballast.

For Total's Egina project, ALE was contracted to lift and install six modules from the yard into their final position on the FPSO. The modules weighed between 335 tonnes and almost 3,000 tonnes.

"The project really showcases the capabilities of the AL.SK350 and the jib to perform some of the world's heaviest ever crane lifts in a congested site. When combined with the unique heavy-duty jib and the largest crane configuration, this represents another record-breaking achievement for ALE," said Carlito Alberto, ALE project engineer.
