Contractors Cargo makes a century in latest project

Contractors Cargo has delivered more than 100 oversized loads from the port of Long Beach to Austin for the McGinness Hills geothermal energy expansion project.

“The project took months of planning and organising as there were so many over-dimensional loads that arrived on different vessels and needed to arrive at the site in a certain order for installation,” said Contractors Cargo.

The consignment included 70 ft (21.3 m) long, 330,000-lb (149.7-tonne) vaporisers, as well as pre-heaters measuring 71 ft (21.6 m) in length and weighing 215,000 lbs (97.5 tonnes).

Contractors Cargo utilised custom trailers to transport the components, minimising the need for pilot cars and police escorts along the route.
