Qube gets in shape with Liebherr

The Australian port solution provider Qube Ports & Bulk has ordered its eighth mobile harbour crane from Liebherr, the LHM 420.

The machine will be used at Qube's Bell Bay facility in Tasmania and will be equipped with a twin-lift spreader.

While the machine will be mainly used for container handling, the LHM 420 provides a maximum lifting capacity of 124 tonnes at an outreach of up to 16 m for the handling of project cargo. The maximum reach of the crane is 48 m.

This is the eighth mobile harbour crane Qube Ports has purchased from Liebherr, with units already based in Darwin, Bunbury, Port Hedland, Geraldton and Fremantle.

The machine is expected to arrive in Bell Bay in June, and will be assembled and commissioned by both local and European engineers.

At its Bell Bay facility, Qube Ports handles a range of cargoes, including containers, bulk and breakbulk, logs, scrap metal, aluminium blocks, fuels as well as heavy lift and project cargo.
