Challenge International secures Angolan government contract

May 9 - The Belgian arm of Le Harve, France-based forwarder Challenge International has leveraged its expertise in handling material for the water purification and water distribution industry in Africa for its latest contract with the Angolan government.

GAUFF Engineering, the German engineering company, has signed Challenge International Belgium for theAngolan Ministerio da Energia e Águas for a project is to set up an irrigation system in an area located close to Lubango, Angola.

This contract represents a total volume of 3,810 m of cast iron pipes and around 100 containers shipped from Europe to Africa. The project also requires the building of a 10,000 sq m storage platform and the construction of access roads.

Challenge International, founded in 1988 and with offices in Antwerp, Le Havre, Marseille, Barcelona, Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Lyon, Bordeaux and Roissy Charles de Gaulle, handles material storage, staff accommodation and provision of fresh supplies in Africa.

In order to speed up its breakbulk and project cargo traffic, Challenge International has developed Flat Rail, specially-designed beams that are twist-locked to a flat rack container frame. Slings can then be connected to the spreader, with the loading device "catching" containers by the four upper ISO corners, allowing OOG cargo to be loaded in around 15 minutes instead of typically an hour.
