DHL refines its skills for Poland project

July 22 - DHL Global Forwarding has completed a major project for Technip, which is carrying out refinery fitting for the Lotos Group.

The project saw DHL ship columns, tanks and reactors with a total weight of almost 1,600 tonnes. The parts were shipped to Poland from ten countries on five chartered vessels.

DHL said the biggest challenge was the shipment of a 46m long, 172 tonne column in Gdansk harbour. The column was re-loaded directly to pontoons and cargo boats, using two 150 tonne harbour cranes working in tandem.

Piotr Iwaniuk, president of the management board of DHL Global Forwarding, added that the project was completed on schedule.
