Fairmount completes Castoro Sei tow

March 18 - Fairmount Marine has towed the pipelay vessel Castoro Sei from Genoa in Italy to Rotterdam, using its tug Fairmount Glacier.

Castoro Sei is a 28,000 dwt semi-submersible vessel operated by Italian oil and gas contractor, Saipem. For her towage from Genoa, Fairmount Glacier was mobilised from Las Palmas. The convoy reached Gibraltar within six days. For the next part of the voyage, including the passage of the English Channel, the Fairmount Glacier was assisted by the tug Salviceroy.

The convoy encountered heavy weather conditions offshore Portugal on the Atlantic Ocean, although no damage or delay was reported. Upon arrival in Rotterdam, Castoro Sei was towed into port and safely moored.

On March 3, HLPFI reported that Royal Boskalis Westminster nv reached an agreement to acquire Fairmount Marine bv and Fairmount Ocean Towage Company bv from the French group, Louis Dreyfus Armateurs.
